We're here to care

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice service provides a community palliative care service available for children and their families resident in the South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and some parts of North Lincolnshire. Children we care for have a limited life expectancy and not expected to survive into adulthood.

The children's families will all be welcomed at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice once we open. Our aim is to support each member of the family.

Bluebell Wood will provide both emergency and planned respite, palliative and end of life care for children either at home, hospital or in a "home from home" setting at the hospice.

What will Bluebell Wood Provide

Bluebell Wood provides a 'Gift of Time' for the families. Three to five hours a week atIf a family wishes, they can receive palliative care at both Bluebell Wood or at home in the end stages of their child's life. Support is available to all members of the family on the death of their child and in bereavement.

The Care Team at Bluebell Wood is a complimentary service of other professionals involved in the care of the families.

Who are the Care Team at Bluebell Wood

The Care Team is a multi-professional group composed of children's nurses, nursery nurses, teachers, physiotherapists, social workers and others who bring varied life experience's of qualifications which enhance the care and support offered to the children and their families. We are currently building up our care team.

Who can and how can you refer a child and family to Bluebell Wood

Referrals are accepted from any source, provided they are made with the knowledge and agreement of the family.

Medical confirmation of a child's condition and prognosis will be sought.

Referrals may be made in writing, telephone or email.
