On Sunday May 11 th, the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Allan Jackson will be joining hundreds of local fundraisers of all ages on a journey of discovery through beautiful local bluebell woods.

The 10k walk was the idea of Rotherham Green Spaces Development Manager Amy Sharp. “We thought it would be a great idea to create a route, which not only passed by Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, but introduced local people to the hidden treasures of the local countryside at the same time. There are some excellent walks in the area and at this time of year, we have our fingers crossed there is still an abundance of bluebells.”

It is expected that people of all ages will take part in this first for the Children’s Hospice together with Green Spaces and the Forestry Commission. The route is moderately easy and suitable for most, although there are a few steps which could pose a bit of a problem with a pushchair.

Registration in advance in just £5 per adult and £2 per child (£8 each on the day) Everyone is encouraged to wear something blue and raise as much in sponsorship as possible. All proceeds will go towards the £2.4 million per year needed to run the hospice, which is all raised by volunteers.

It all begins and ends at Anston Parish Hall (some car parking is available). The Mayor and Mayoress will start the event at 10am prompt.
