This walk is the first Tom’s 2 million Golden Step Challenge. It will raise awareness of the £2million annual running costs of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Eleven women – together we can. Myself and female family and friends will be walking 35 miles through 20 Derbyshire villages. We invite you to walk the final 7 miles with us for this very pleasant hike with ascent from Endsor over to Bakewell. The walk will finish at the Thornbridge Hall Charity Garden Party in Ashford on the Water.

There is no registration fee and sponsorship is optional. There are no age restrictions but walkers must be fit and able to walk 7 miles in approximately 4 hours. Some areas of the walk are not suitable for prams and wheelchairs due to stiles, small gates and bumpy grass surfaces. The majority of this walk is trails, grass and tarmac. Dogs are welcome, on a lead.

My main aim is to highlight the staggering amount required each year and hope in doing so people have the option to support Bluebell Wood. Only 4% of the annual running costs of the Hospice come from the Government.

My own son Thomas will use the Hospice once it is opened and this will give great support to the whole family and the many local children of South Yorkshire and the North Midlands with life threatening or terminal illnesses.

Meeting point: Baslow Village Hall, next to Nether End car park, Baslow.

The village hall will be open between 10am and 12pm for refreshments and facilities.

Please bring your own packed lunch and drinks to avoid delays.

Cars can park in the Nether End NCP car park in Baslow and also on side roads throughout the village.

A complimentary Hulley’s coach will be available to take walkers back to their cars.
