Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers vital care and support to children and young adults with life-shortening or life-threatening conditions across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Derbyshire. We also support their families, carers and friends, and work with other professionals and organisations across the region to make sure every family gets the support they need in the way they want it.

Our vision for the next three years is to reach twice as many children and families as we do now, and to increase and improve the range of services that we offer. Our care was rated as ‘outstanding’ by the CQC, and we want nothing less for children, young people and families.

As our Director of Care, you will be an inspirational leader who puts our vision and values at the heart of everything you do. You will have a key role within the hospice‘s Strategic Management Team, and provide strong professional clinical leadership to your team.  You must have a positive and entrepreneurial approach to the opportunities and challenges ahead, and lead on the development of clinical and holistic care within the hospice. You’ll participate in the local and national palliative care network, and advocate and champion Bluebell Wood in the local health and social care community.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will make sure that the hospice maintains its current high standards and complies with legal, regulatory and professional requirements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a senior leadership role in a successful and well-respected charity. We are looking for someone who shares our vision to do the very best for children and families, as well as make sure we reach all of the children and young adults who need our support.

We’re looking for someone from a nursing or other allied health professional background. You’ll already be a senior leader with the skills and experience to provide strategic direction for our full range of care services for children, young people and families. We are interested in candidates who want to deliver and develop excellent care and support. We need someone who, like us, will always try to find a way to say ‘yes’, rather than ‘no.’ You will share our aspiration for Bluebell Wood to be a centre of excellence in children’s palliative care.

In return, you will receive an attractive benefits package. We are a forward thinking, flexible, and supportive place to work and will support you in your own learning, research and development.
