Spiritual care does not change situations but can help people consider things in a different way. For those following a particular religion, spiritual needs may well include rituals of a religious nature such as meditation, prayer or receiving a sacrament. Others turn to the arts or nature to find ways of connecting with the spiritual side of their life.
At Bluebell Wood, families can have space to sit and reflect, light a candle, listen to music and put a prayer, thought or memory onto the memory tree in our quiet ‘Butterfly’ room. Open 24 hours a day, families can have time to themselves whenever they need to. They often use our garden and local nature walks for this reason too.
Whether or not families hold religious beliefs, our chaplain is available to support children, families and carers, both in their homes and at our hospice.
