Donning silly sweaters for Bluebell Wood’s Christmas Jumper Day has helped Barlborough-based Avant Homes raise £424 for the children’s hospice.
With employees charged £3 for wearing a festive top and £4 if they didn’t, and directors made to pay a higher rate of £5 or £6, the Chesterfield arm of the national house builder quickly had the funds rolling in.
Organiser Nicola Chadwick, who works in payroll at Avant Homes, said: “We chose Bluebell Wood for our charity event this year because Christmas for us is all about giving something back to the community. More than that Christmas is the most amazing time of year for children. Bluebell Wood makes Christmas extra special for a lot of children in our community and that makes us happy knowing that our donations will be helping them do this.”
Russ Hall, Corporate Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood: “Christmas can be a difficult time for many of our families and we want to do all we can to help them create special memories, and make sure as many of our children and young adults as possible have a festive season to remember. We’re really grateful to Avant Homes for their enthusiastic support for Christmas Jumper Day. Every penny raised will help make a difference.”
