Banks and hospices celebrate a decade

Yorkshire Bank staff volunteer at Bluebell Wood Children's HospiceA decade long partnership between Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and Hospice UK has helped to raise over £20,000 and generated hundreds of volunteer hours for Bluebell Wood.

Across the country, the partnership between the national charity for hospice care and the two high street banks has generated over 40,000 volunteer hours and built lasting links between hospices and bank branches.

Yorkshire Bank branches in Doncaster, Worksop, Chapeltown and Sheffield city centre support Bluebell Wood. Staff at the Fargate branch have already bought tickets for Bluebell Wood’s 10th Anniversary Ball in September and are members of Bluebell Wood’s 365 Business Club, the networking group for businesses across the region.

David Duffy, CEO of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, said: “I am delighted that together with Hospice UK we have reached such an incredible milestone, raising over £6 million for such a vital cause. I am especially proud of the thousands of hours of volunteering our employees have given to hospices up and down the country. That in itself is a wonderful achievement.”

Rachael Dawes, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Bluebell Wood, said: “It’s great to see what a difference a decade of support can make to hospices like ours. Corporate supporters like Yorkshire Bank are important to us. They not only help to raise funds, but also help to spread the word about Bluebell Wood.

“Our 365 Business Club is our way of supporting the businesses that support us, helping them to promote their services to other members and offering a range of member benefits. Every penny raised for Bluebell Wood helps our families to make special memories, whether they have days, months or years left together.”
