It’s Benidorm or Bust for Bluebell Wood

A couple from Leeds will be taking on a 1,400-mile driving challenge to Benidorm in June to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Among the hundreds of drivers steering old bangers, classic motors and just their ‘daily rides’ to the Spanish coast in the four-day ‘Benidorm or Bust’ event will be Mark and Mel Robinson.

Mark has recently stepped out of his role at Insight, the Sheffield-based IT products and services provider that has been supporting South Yorkshire’s only children’s hospice since early 2017. The company raised over £40,000 and volunteered over 100 days for the charity in 2017, and is aiming to raise £100,000 and volunteer even more days this year.

The four-day drive will see drivers make their way from Dover to Tours via Le Mans on day one; motoring from Tours to Biarritz on day two; making their way from Biarritz to Madrid on day three and driving the final leg from Madrid to Benidorm on day four.

Mel said: “We’re planning to set off from Sheffield on Tuesday 12th June, with an official start from the Insight Technology Building car park at lunchtime. Our car will be emblazoned with Bluebell Wood’s logo and balloons and we’re hoping to call in at the hospice at the start of our trip. We’re also really grateful to the support we’ve had from all the employees at Insight and LW Graphics. We’re really excited about the adventure and are looking forward to doing our bit to raise money in support of the incredible work Bluebell Wood does.”
