Bluebell Wood goes greener

A local business man, Craig West, is helping Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to save £200,000 over 20 years through installing solar panels.

Craig West’s company, West Electrical Ltd, is helping Bluebell Wood ‘go greener’ after installing an extension of solar panels to the roof of the hospice building. In addition, the company has converted the lighting at the hospice to reduce the charity’s electricity bills.

Bluebell Wood has lowered its bills since the first solar panel instillation in 2012. The second installation, completed this spring, will help to reduce the carbon footprint further. The solar panels provide a tax free and index linked income.

All of this will save the hospice around £200,000 over the next 20 years. The charity, which supports more than 200 children with complex medical conditions, has to raise more than £3m a year to keep its doors open.

Andy Drury, Facilities Manager at Bluebell Wood, said: “The new extension will enable us to generate our own electricity, saving a phenomenal amount – as well as receiving an annual income for the next 20 years. The money saved will be invested back into the hospice and our children, making unforgettable memories.

“Craig has been a great supporter of Bluebell Wood for many years now and offers us the very best prices. Bluebell Wood would like to say a special thank you to West Electrical for the second installation of solar panels.”

Craig said: “We are proud supporters of the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which is a much loved and respected charitable organisation. I try my best to support the hospice wherever and whenever I can.”

The team at West Electrical have pledged that for every new installation for new customers, they will donate £100 to the local charity. To do this, quote ‘Bluebell Wood’ when contacting the company. West Electrical Energy Ltd is a locally based domestic and commercial electrical installation company.
