Sheffield-based Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is delighted to announce that Dobbies Chesterfield, the region’s leading garden centre, has extended its support for the charity into a second year. Dobbies has also pledged to donate to Bluebell Wood the full 5p charge generated from the sale of their plastic carrier bags.
The renewed partnership will not only boost the money raised for the hospice, which cares for over 250 children and their families, but also give Dobbies’ employees a way to take part in team building opportunities and a range of fundraising activities.
Bluebell Wood supports children with complex medical conditions and a shortened life expectancy. The charity needs to raise over £4m every year to keep its doors open but receives less than 10 per cent from government sources.
Rachael Dawes, Bluebell Wood Corporate Fundraiser, said: “Our corporate partners are really important to us and we are thrilled that Dobbies in Chesterfield has decided to extend its support for Bluebell Wood into a second year.
“The staff at Dobbies have been fantastic over the last year, devising all sorts of fundraising initiatives that have caught the imagination of staff and customers alike, raising a fabulous £2,800 in the last six months alone.
“Becoming a Bluebell Wood partner is more than simply raising money for us; Dobbies staff have also taken part in our events and have volunteered at the hospice. Their support has also enabled us to further raise our profile in the area.”
Julie Waine, Community Champion at Dobbies Chesterfield, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Bluebell Wood again in 2016. Our staff have now voted twice to support Bluebell Wood and have really put their hearts into supporting this extremely worthwhile local charity, which offers outstanding support to the children and families they care for. We have a great programme of fundraising events planned throughout the year as well as regular collection points – the fountains at the entrance to the shop are great children’s favourites and all the cash they drop into them goes straight to Bluebell Wood.”
The hospice’s dedicated Corporate Fundraisers work directly with each business throughout the year to ensure they and their employees derive as much personal and professional benefit as possible, as well as enjoy their involvement with Bluebell Wood. For more information, visit www.bluebellwood.org.
