Brand new books worth over £800 have made their way to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, thanks to the generosity of online auction bidders.
Mum of three Jenny Trott, from Swinton, held a two-day auction in a Facebook group. The event let members bid for 36 lots, including farm passes, a crocheted mermaid tail, soft play passes, an ice cream parlour voucher, chocolates, sporting event tickets and more.
With highest bids including a Cannon Hall Farm family pass at £21 and a handmade lightshade at £22, all the funds raised have bought new books for children, family members and care staff to read together at Bluebell Wood.
Jenny said: “As an Usborne books organiser, I wanted to raise as much as possible for new books for this amazing charity. I thought an auction could be a great way for people to have fun bidding and win some great prizes while helping Bluebell Wood. I’ve heard so much about Bluebell Wood and I just wanted to do my bit to help.”
Emma Doughty, Head of Family Support and Wellbeing Services, Bluebell Wood, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Jenny and everyone who bid and donated. Books can be a big part of our families’ time at Bluebell Wood, with many parents reading to their children and making special memories together. These new books are a great addition to our library area and are greatly appreciated.”
