Brighten up your Blue Monday by entering Bluebell Wood’s annual Colour Dash

Blue Monday – the 16th of January – may be known as the most depressing day of the year, but Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are trying to change that, by encouraging members of the public to sign up to their annual Colour Dash.

The vibrant 5K run is one of the biggest and brightest events in the region, and signing up to this year’s dash on Saturday 29th April is bound to brighten up your Blue Monday.

Since Bluebell Wood’s first Colour Dash in 2014, over 8,000 people have completed the colourful course to raise money for local children and their families. This year it’s your turn to grab your running shoes and dash down to Rother Valley Country Park to walk, jog, run or skip through five colour stations and shower yourself in colour.

If you are out and about in Rotherham on Monday 16th January you will also get the chance to see our striking shop window, located at 12 Wellgate, which will be dressed up with coloured paint, and will feature mannequins decked out in our Colour Dash merchandise.

Bluebell Wood provides care and support for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. This includes end of life care, short breaks, music therapy, counselling, sibling support, home visits and more.

Jo Berry, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “The middle of January can be a bit of a let-down: the holidays are over, our bank accounts are feeling the strain, and the weather’s miserable.

“At Bluebell Wood we want to give you a reason to smile this Blue Monday by encouraging you to join the crowds at our annual Colour Dash on 29th April. Our vision is living with love and laughter, and our 5K dash is a great way to come together and have fun, while helping us create special memories for the children and families we support.”

Colour Dash tickets are £18 for adults, £9.50 for children and £49 for a family of four. Children under five enter free-of-charge. Team tickets are also available at £15pp (eight adults or more per team). Free car parking on the day is now offered with all ticket purchases, saving £5.00 per car. Sign up here for Bluebell Wood’s Colour Dash 2017.
