Fancy a Tour de Yorkshire?

If you fancy being Jason Kenny or Laura Trott for a day and raising valuable funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, you’d better move fast.

South Yorkshire’s only children’s hospice has just eight places left for keen amateur cyclists to take part in the Tour de Yorkshire Ride, which takes place just before the last leg of the Tour de Yorkshire 2017 on Sunday 30 April in Fox Valley, Sheffield.

The sportive event will give amateur cyclists the chance to ride many of the same roads as the professionals before they do, including the pro finish line complete with support from the waiting crowds.

With places on the 75 kilometre and the 45km routes still to be snapped up through Bluebell Wood, the Tour de Yorkshire Ride will give participants the chance to experience a mix of the Tour de France and Yorkshire hospitality and scenery.

One of this year’s riders for Bluebell Wood is Daniel Taylor from Penistone, who is taking part in memory of his brother Jonathan Williams who passed away at Bluebell Wood in 2015. Daniel said: “Bluebell Wood is a special place for all our family. They took exceptional care of my brother in his last days and looked after the rest of us really well too.

“I try to do something for Bluebell Wood every year and as a keen bike racer with the last leg of the Tour de Yorkshire almost on my doorstep, the chance to take part in the Ride was just too good to pass up. I’ve been lucky enough to get one of the 100km places so it will be a challenge but an amazing experience at the same time.”

Jo Berry, Events Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for cycling fans to ride the same roads as the pros, get all the support of the crowd and raise money to help Bluebell Wood to create more special memories for the children, young adults and families we support.”

Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice supports families through the toughest of times, providing end of life care and treatment, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups and home visits. Our motto is ‘living with love and laughter’ and we create special memories for children, young adults and families who visit us.
