The 1k Bluebell Wood Fun Run, which starts just before this year’s Active Forest Sherwood Pines 10k Trail Race at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, is open to everyone. All proceeds will help Bluebell Wood to support children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions in North Nottinghamshire and beyond. Organisers are also hoping that many 10k participants will run for us.
Giving people of all ages and fitness levels a chance to enjoy the undulating forest and nature reserve trail half an hour before the bigger Trail Race, the 1k Bluebell Wood Fun Run can be entered online at www.runbritain.com/races until 26 August.
With a café, adventure playground, cycle hire and Go-Ape all on site at the Forest Park, families can make a day out of it after taking part in the run.
David Corbett, Race Director, Sherwood Pines Trail Races, said: “We’re delighted to have Bluebell Wood on board as our nominated charity for the event. We’ve renamed our Fun Run the Bluebell Wood Fun Run but we’re also hoping that many runners taking part in the main 10k race will also support Bluebell Wood.
“I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the hospice on a few occasions and it’s always great to see the amazing work the staff do with the children and families in their care. We’re pleased that funds raised through our events are helping to support this work”.
Melanie Rose, Community Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood: “We’re delighted that this year’s fun run is in support of Bluebell Wood and we’re really looking forward to seeing lots of people on the start line on 3 September. Our thanks go to David Corbett and the rest of his team. It’s a pleasure working with the people who make events like this happen, who create a wonderful atmosphere for everyone taking part, including the volunteers.”
Entry in the Bluebell Wood Fun Run is £3 per person and there are a maximum of 100 places available. Please visit www.runbritain.com/races before 26 August 2017 to enter.
