Keira brings an early Easter to Bluebell Wood

Lucy Rathbone with Keira Davis at Bluebell WoodEaster arrived early at Bluebell Wood after a nine year old from Clowne decided her birthday money should help other less fortunate children.

Employees at the hospice, which supports families facing the toughest of times in North Derbyshire and beyond, were touched when Keira Davis called in to donate over 30 Easter eggs bought with her own money.

Keira, who goes to Barlborough Hall School, said: “I just want to help people less fortunate than me. My birthday is just after Christmas and I had everything I wanted, so I had a talk with my mum and said I’d like my birthday money to help other children. Then I looked for charities that help children in our area and I found Bluebell Wood. I gave all my money to my mum and she went out and bought the eggs.”

Lucy Rathbone, Bluebell Wood’s Community Fundraiser for Chesterfield and North Derbyshire, said: “This is such a kind and thoughtful gesture by Keira. As well as the presents, what matters is that children like Keira are thinking of others and helping to create special memories for our families. Every gift of time, money or presents helps us to do even more for our children and young adults.”
