Thousand mile runner Megan joins Fun-draising Club

Megan DavidsonChesterfield’s Megan Davidson is running away with her plans to help Bluebell Wood do even more for families facing the toughest of times.

Megan (14) who set herself the epic challenge of running 1000 miles for Bluebell Wood at the start of the year, has become a founder member of Bluebell Wood’s Fun-draising Club for under 16s. She’s already run the first 500 miles and raised an amazing £500 so far by getting outdoors to run nearly every day.

Every penny Megan raises helps Bluebell Wood to support children and young adults in her home town of Chesterfield and beyond with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions.

Megan said: “I run between seven and nine miles each time, often with my dad for company. I usually run near to home but when I’m running with my dad we go everywhere! I started raising money for Bluebell Wood because it’s our local children’s hospice and I wanted to do something to help. We live near woods with bluebells in them too, so it just feels right.

“When my dad told me about the Bluebell Wood Fun-draising Club, I decided to join. It fits really well with what I’m doing and I think they will really help with whatever I do next for them.”

Bluebell Wood’s Fun-draising Club helps under-16s turn their ideas into fundraisers. From bake sales and sponsored silences to talent shows and sponsored swims, the club gives young people inspiration and support to help them all the way.

Sally Baker, Community Fundraising Manager, Bluebell Wood said: “We’re really pleased that Megan has joined our Fun-draising Club. She’s an inspiration to other young people with her running, and in her motivation to help Bluebell Wood families live with love and laughter. We wish her every bit of luck with her challenge and will be backing her all the way as she continues to fundraise for Bluebell Wood.

“Anyone under 16 who’d like to have lots of fun coming up with ideas and raising money for Bluebell Wood should get in touch with me. This is the perfect chance to put your talents to use and make a real difference to families around the region.”

Once new members have made their first donation, Bluebell Wood sends each person a special fundraising pack with their own Fun-draising Club t-shirt.
