A Sheffield telecoms and data installations business is putting feet to pedals for Bluebell Wood.
An 11-strong team from ITI Network Services will be cycling 250 miles from London to Paris this July to help Bluebell Wood support children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions.
Cyclists Ian Bell, Wayne Brown, Jason Denmark, Ross Denmark, Andrew Eyre, Craig Gray, Alex Goodlad, Keith Richardson, Hugh Spear, Chris Weston and Dave Wing are planning to arrive in Paris on 29 July at the same time as the Tour de France.
The mammoth sponsored cycle will be the latest of several fundraisers ITI Network Services has undertaken. In May last year it introduced a fuel card initiative which pays 25p per litre of fuel purchased by its engineers through the UK into its ‘Bluebell Wood pot’, and in December it raised an impressive £1,023 from a ‘Director Wax-a-thon’.
Sharon Richardson, Group Finance Manager, ITI Network Services, said: “We chose Bluebell Wood as our company charity as it does incredible work for families across Sheffield and the wider region and relies on fundraising to be able to do its work. We picked up on the cycling challenge with Bluebell Wood through promotion at the Sheffield Chamber President’s Dinner and as we have a number of budding cyclists keen to get involved we thought it would be an ideal challenge.”
David Hall, Corporate Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re delighted that ITI Network Services are going all out for us and we wish them the best of luck on their amazing journey. They’ve had some great ideas with the fuel card fundraiser and the wax-a-thon, but we’re sure this bike ride will be a fantastic, once in a lifetime, challenge for the team. We can’t thank them enough for all their support.
“Every pound of sponsorship will help to make a big difference to Bluebell Wood and our families. All the money raised will help us offer families a wide range of support services, from arts and crafts, music therapy and sibling groups to short breaks, counselling and end of life treatment and care.”
