Visitors to Doncaster piping manufacturer Polypipe had a surprise welcome when they were greeted by staff dressed as film and comic book characters for a charity Superhero Day.
Employees at Polypipe Building Products, the UK’s leading plastic piping, drainage and water supply and underfloor heating manufacturer, dressed up as their favourite superheroes to raise money for Bluebell Wood.
The company organised the event as part of the Master Cutler’s Challenge, which, this year, has companies and community groups across the region competing to raise as much as they can for Bluebell Wood. In return for a charity donation, team members dressed as the Hulk, Bat Girl, Spiderman and other characters, and themed their work areas to match.
Russ Hall, Corporate Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, was invited to judge the winning costumes. He said:
“Anyone visiting Polypipe would definitely have had a welcome with a difference as the reception team were dressed in sapphire blue capes and red eye masks. It was tough choosing a winner as everyone went to town with their efforts. From an amazing Bat Cave that the stock control team created, to the sales team transforming themselves into a Powerpuff Girls’ army, I was blown away by what I saw.
“I chose assembly for the best team award because they combined first rate outfits with great decoration of their work stations. They even painted one team member green. Batman had to be the overall winner though, thanks to a homemade costume with a superb bat belt and bat light.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Polypipe for their fantastic efforts and all the support they’re giving Bluebell Wood. It was clear that everyone there really understands the Bluebell Wood ethos of living with love and laughter.
“The Superhero Day showed everyone contributing to improving the lives of the children and young adults we care for at Bluebell Wood, and in my book that makes them all heroes.”
