Bluebell Wood parents Steve and Jane Knight, along with daughter Katie, have organised a night of comedy in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The event, Rock with Laughter, is at Beighton Welfare on Saturday 28th November at 7.30pm, tickets are priced at £10.
Steve, of Beighton, said: “We got a great line up of comedians from all over the country including Gary Skyner from Liverpool. It’s going to be fantastic evening with lots of laughs to raise a lot of money for Bluebell Wood.”
Steve and Jane’s oldest daughter, Emma, passed away when she was 13 after a brave battle with a brain tumour. Emma received support from the Bluebell Wood Community Care Team before coming to stay in Bluebell Wood’s Forget Me Not end of life suite, providing space and time for Emma’s beloved friends and family to say their goodbyes.
“Even though losing Emma was a sad time for us, we had happy memories of her being at Bluebell Wood. It was the worst time of our lives but it could have been a lot worse without Bluebell Wood,” said Steve.
The parents, and their daughter Katie, have since raised thousands for Bluebell Wood. Jane said: “Bluebell Wood made a huge difference to us at the hardest of times so fundraising for Bluebell Wood is just our way of giving something back for the amazing support we received.”
Gail Parkin, Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We are just so grateful to Steve, Jane and Katie for putting on this event and for all the fundraising they have done since Emma passed away.
“It’s going to be a wonderful night’s entertainment. We are currently supporting more than 200 children and young adults with life shortening conditions, so we are very grateful for all the hard work this incredible family have put in.”
