Thousands of pounds raised for Bluebell Wood through birthday celebrations

Local business owner, Kev Cousins, has raised an incredible £4038.08 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston, after holding a raffle and comedy night for his 60th birthday.

Kev, of Retford, set up a raffle for Bluebell Wood from his shop, Kev’s Carpets, which he has owned for the last nine years. The raffle prizes were bought by Kev or generously donated, and the raffle was drawn at his milestone birthday on September 16th at Retford town hall, which featured the hilarious Peter Kay tribute act, Lee Lard, from Doncaster.

Kev explained: “I chose Bluebell Wood as it is a wonderful local charity, which provides much needed support for poorly children and their families. I believe it’s important to give something back to your community, and I couldn’t think of a more worthy cause than my local children’s hospice.

“I would like to give a big thank you on behalf of everyone who helped make the event a reality. The entertainment and catering – which was provided by Tina from the Imperial Tea Rooms – made for a fantastic evening, and I’m glad we could all come together, have fun, and raise money for such a brilliant cause.”

Melanie Rose, Community Fundraiser, said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to Kev for thinking of Bluebell Wood during his birthday celebrations. We are so grateful for the amazing support we get from our local community and people like John, and every penny raised will help us to continue to care for our children and families all year round.”
