Whether you fancy a 10k sunset run or testing your walking legs over 100 kilometres of Derbyshire beauty spots, your chance of an outdoor fundraising adventure for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice awaits.
Walkers and runners can mix a love of the great outdoors and support for the charity that cares for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions by entering the Peak District Challenge on 22 and 23 September 2017.
With the choice of a Back Before Dark 10k, and 25k, 50k, 75k or 100k walking or running challenges, there will be something for every fitness level. The event is organised by Wilderness Development in support of multiple charities, including Bluebell Wood.
The Back Before Dark 10k takes people on a circular route from Hathersage, with the added adrenalin rush of trying to return to base before nightfall. The 25k Copper Challenge follows a circular route from Hathersage to Baslow and back via Curbar and Frogatt edges.
For determined walkers or joggers, the longer distances cover a variety of Peak District locations including Hope Valley and Ladybower Valley. The ultimate challenge is the 100k Gold Challenge with 3,200 metres of climbing in a 24-hour period for fit and experienced hillwalkers who want to see the best of the Peak District.
Lucy Rathbone, Community Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood: “We’d love to see our supporters tie up their walking boot laces or don their trainers to help raise as much as possible for families facing the toughest of times. With the choice of joining a guided team or navigating yourself, the event can give you as much or as little help as you need to get round the routes. This is a fantastic opportunity to test yourself, enjoy the Peak District and help make a difference to our children and young adults.”
