We’re all looking forward to having a barbeque over the summer and one family doing just that are the Knights. Every year Steve, Jane, Katie, and their friends and family host a barbeque in memory of Emma.
Emma was a chatty, bubbly girl who loved dancing, Sheffield Wednesday, and going to school. She was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in 2004, and over the next four years she lost her sight and her ability to walk. Despite all this, she never lost her smile.
Steve added, “Watching Emma deteriorate was the worst thing in our lives, but it would have been a lot worse without Bluebell Wood. When you’ve gone through what our family has, you look at life differently, and it’s nice to know we’re making a difference.”
What can I do?
Our Community Fundraisers can help you get organised with collection boxes and lots of tips to make your event a fundraising success. If you’ve got enough time, we can also post out your Bangers for Bluebell pack.

So send us a photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #BangersForBluebell or email it to email@example.com and you could win a Bangers for Bluebell print from local artist Kate Morgan. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Kate for the incredible work she has created for us.
Kate’s illustrations are mixed media/digital pieces. She scans in textures and drawings made using paint, pastel and pens. She then builds up the image digitally to create a neat and professional finish. There is a strong focus on colour, detail and texture within her work and she loves to draw people. Kate says that there is something very fun about creating lots of different characters and building up a story around them in the picture.
Her sketchbook is her go to tool for gathering ideas, sketching composition and experimenting with colour and texture. She even carries a mini sketchbook with her all the time so that she can draw scenes when out and about. Kate’s inspiration comes from her surroundings, travel, people and stories that she makes up. She has always loved children’s books too, even now as a fully grown adult and would love to illustrate her own some day.
Kate sells her prints at local art and craft markets as well as through her online etsy shop. She loves making customised illustrations for people who are looking to give a bespoke gift to friends and family or just fancy a portrait of themselves and their pets!
If you’re a fan of Kate’s work, you can follow her on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and her prints are available to buy online. If you have a question for her, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
