Dragon Boat Race and family fun day Take part in our exciting Dragon Boat Race this September! Bluebell Wood will be at Manvers Lake on Saturday, 18th September ready to watch you and your team take to the choppy waters to raise funds for families and children who need us. The event is free to spectators and they'll be lots of family fun activities. From face painting to games, amusements to food stalls, there will be something for everyone! Sign up today for an amazing day out! About the boat race Teams need at least 10 paddlers plus one drummer, or a maximum of 20 paddlers plus one drummer. Each team will take part in timed heats, with the three fastest teams going head to head in a dramatic final! To take part, participants must be over the age of 12 (minimum height 130cm). Team entry is £500 per boat. Manvers Lake is offering pre-race training for any teams who would like to get to grips with paddling before the big day. Each team will take part in timed heats. The three fastest overall teams will then go head-to-head in a dramatic final to place in 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Q: Who can take part in the boat race? Anyone! Our boats enable businesses, community groups, schools, friends and families of all sizes to get involved in the fun! Q: Do I have to pay to spectate the race? It is FREE to come and spectate, however, you will be required to pay for parking. There will be children’s games, amusements, face painting and other attractions and stalls to enjoy. We will also be running a barbecue, food stalls and a bar.
