Helping children and young people has always been a passion for Bluebell Wood’s new Community Fundraiser for the Doncaster area.

Joining Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice after teaching in primary schools for over 20 years, Hannah Saunders knew Bluebell Wood was the place she wanted to focus her energies before she ever set foot in the hospice.

“I loved being a teacher but after 22 years in the job I decided it was time for a change,” said Hannah, who has come full circle after starting her teaching career at Doncaster’s Conisborough Ivanhoe Primary School.

“I still wanted to continue to be an advocate for children, and I knew about the incredible work of Bluebell Wood, so it seemed like the perfect fit.

“When I visited the hospice before I applied for the job I was struck by how happy a place it is. Everyone was so welcoming, down to earth and friendly - and that’s what really sold it to me.”

Mum-of-two Hannah spent just under a year working with fundraisers in Chesterfield before moving to her new Doncaster patch.

“My role is very much focused on building relationships with all the amazing communities who do so much for Bluebell Wood,” she said.

“In this job you’re surrounded by people who care, who want to help and who consistently go that extra mile. You really do get to see the best of people.”

Bluebell Wood supports many families in the Doncaster area, and Hannah’s very much looking forward to getting to know all those whose support makes it possible.

“We have a brilliant, passionate support base in Doncaster so I’m very excited about meeting all the inspirational groups and people.”

“We’re always on the lookout for more supporters so if any individuals or groups would like to get involved with fundraising for Bluebell Wood, please do get in touch.

“There are so many opportunities to help local families and we’d be here to help you every step of the way.

“I’ve seen first-hand just how much your support means to local children and families and it really does make the world of difference.”
