Dan Kew, Village Events Manager at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest is in training for the Ladybower Reservoir Trail run after being inspired by the work of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The trail run is set to take place on Saturday 12th October and will be the first year that Bluebell Wood have partnered with event organisers RunThrough as the headline charity. Runners can choose between two distances – either 22k or 52k ultra.

Dan Kew has signed up to the 22k run after visiting the hospice recently as part of the Center Parcs partnership with Bluebell Wood.

Dan said, “Last year I started a new role at Center Parcs and a part of it involves supporting our local charity, Bluebell Wood. I took the opportunity to visit the hospice, meet some fantastic fundraising staff and see the brilliant work the hospice does.

“I got to see the fantastic facilities that are available to families and the team shared their experiences and the importance of fundraising to keep their services running.

“From this moment I was hooked and wanted to make a difference not only with the partnership through my workplace but also to do something personally.

“The trail run at Ladybower will test my physical and mental capacity. Training will be a challenge as my wife and I have full time jobs, two young kids, and a dog to walk. I have done some running in the past and my current training starts with couch to 5k.

“Thank you, Bluebell Wood, for everything you do, it truly is incredible and I am proud to be able to do my bit.”

Beth Cole, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood said, “We are so impressed with Dan’s enthusiasm and are incredibly grateful for the support from him and the Center Parcs team.

“We’re really looking forward to cheering Dan on and all the runners taking part in the Ladybower trail run. The views will be breathtaking, and it’s set to be a brilliant event for trail runners of all abilities.”

“We’re also pleased to announce that Mortgage 1st and Shepherd Distribution, who are corporate partners of Bluebell Wood, have kindly sponsored the event to help with our costs. Thank you so much to both of these community spirited organisations for all their continued support of our cause.”
