A local mortgage specialist has pledged to donate to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice each time a mortgage is completed for the next 12 months in a new relationship that could raise thousands for the charity.

Sheffield-based Mallard Mortgages has adopted Bluebell Wood as it’s charity of the year and is looking forward to taking on plenty of fundraising challenges for the hospice in the year ahead.

For co-director Troy Mallard, who runs the family firm with his wife Della, it’s about giving something back to the community.

“We want to support Bluebell Wood as having two children ourselves we see and understand the amazing work they do and how much they can help families who are put in a position none of us would ever want to face,” said Troy, from Rotherham.

“Bluebell Wood is a local charity that offers so much to the wider community so we’d really like to give something back.”

The couple, who have 36 years of experience in the mortgage business between them, are also looking forward to raising awareness of the charity’s work and hope to do some volunteering activities when restrictions allow.

Sally Baker, Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re delighted Mallard Mortgages have chosen us as their charity of the year and we’re very much looking forward to working closely with the business over the coming weeks and months.

“The support of community-spirited local businesses like Mallard Mortgages is more important than ever right now after a year in which much of our fundraising activity has been cancelled or postponed."

“We’d like say a big thank you to Troy, Della and the team for their support which will help us be there for local families going through some of the toughest times you can imagine.”
