About us Our news Hospice shop feeling blue as city dress exchange closes Thrifty fashionistas aren’t the only ones lamenting the impending closure of one of Sheffield’s best-loved dress agencies. A charity shop in Rotherham is also feeling rather blue that the mother and daughter team behind the Dress Circle on Abbeydale Road have decided it’s time to hang up their hats once and for all. The shop, which sells pre-loved designer label clothes and accessories on behalf of their owners, closes on September 28. Women who liked to recycle their fashion pieces, and those who loved to snap them up at a snip of the original cost, will have to find another source. And so too will the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice Charity Shop on Wellgate, Rotherham, which has gratefully been receiving all the items the Dress Agency didn’t manage to sell for the last four years. Pat Bellamy and Maria Terry, who bought the business six years ago, have helped to raise well over £5,000 in this way for the children’s hospice at North Anston. June Salthouse, manageress of the Wellgate charity shop said: “Pat and Maria’s support has been a massive lift for us and we really going to miss them. “We so looked forward to their stock arriving and so did our regular customers. It was always really top quality and there were often well-known designer names amongst the items, which went straight onto our rails.” “We would love to hear from other dress agencies or local boutiques who could step into their shoes to support us in this way.” Pat and Maria made the decision to close ten weeks ago and are busy selling off their stock at bargain prices. “After six lovely years of running The Dress Circle it’s time for us to retire and enjoy family life. As ever, what we don’t sell will go to Bluebell Wood,” said former interior designer Maria. “We would like to thank customers who have been so generous in allowing us to donate unsold stock to support the hospice. “Bluebell Wood does invaluable work to support the whole family on receiving the devastating news that a child has a life limiting illness. It has been our pleasure and privilege to support that work. No family should be alone.“Any clothing shop that can replace us would enjoy the partnership and be making a real difference.” Shops looking to donate unsold stock to the hospice’s retail shops can contact Bluebell Wood on 01909 517360.
