A show-stopper of a day at Meadowhall featuring some of the world’s most sought after cars has helped to raise over £21,000 for Bluebell Wood.

The spectacular sight of over 100 luxury cars arriving at one of the shopping centre’s car parks created a sight to remember for shoppers and motorists. The Supercar Experience gave people a chance to sit in, or have their photo taken next to, their dream car, in return for a donation to the charity that supports children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions.

Featuring Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and Porsches, the event was sponsored by prestige car dealership John Holland, which supplied some of the cars for the event. Supercar Driver members took their cars to the shopping centre, with an additional 10,000 people taking the opportunity to visit the shopping centre to experience their favourite motor up close.

Adam Thorby, Director, Supercar Driver, said: “All the Supercar drivers were delighted to do their bit once again for Bluebell Wood, which is an amazing cause. We’re incredibly proud that by using the cars to give people a once in a lifetime experience, and through our other fundraising over the last few years, we’ve been able to raise over £119,000 to date for the families that Bluebell Wood support.”

Darren Pearce, Meadowhall Centre Director, said: “The Supercar Experience is a fantastic day, offering a great atmosphere whilst raising vital funds for a charity that supports families across the region and beyond.

“This is the third year that we’ve joined forces with Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Supercar Driver for this event, and we’re delighted to be celebrating such a staggering amount of funds raised. From vintage vehicles to comic book cars, our visitors have enjoyed a range of rare and roaring motors this weekend and we’d like to thank everyone that attended, for their donations and support.”

Julie Hampson, Corporate Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We’d like to say thank you to Meadowhall, Supercar Driver, John Holland, Porsche Sheffield, Aston Martin Leeds, XL Leasing, Sporting Bears and Leighton Vans for making the Supercar Experience an even more stunning success this year.

“All the money raised will make a huge difference to our families, and help us to deliver the services they need, from arts and crafts and music therapy, to sibling support, counselling and end of life treatment and care.”
