About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are currently supporting around 300 families both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more.  It costs more than £5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government sources.

The role:  

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered children’s nurse with experience in palliative care and symptom control to undertake the role of Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist.

This post is a newly developed role, it is a training and development post where the postholder will be required to undertake training and develop skills to fulfil the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist and be an independent non-medical prescriber to ensure complex symptom management can be delivered to children and young people with life limiting conditions. The successful applicant will gain further knowledge and skills by working closely alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Medical Team, and established Care Team at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. The team are committed to delivering specialist palliative care to children and families both in the community and within the hospice setting. 

The requirements: 

To fulfil the role effectively you will be enthusiastic with a commitment to developing the knowledge and skills not only of yourself but other care staff and agencies we work in partnership with.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience in children’s palliative care. You will have a flexible approach to work showing dedication to developing the service both within the hospice and in the community ensuring that our children, young people, and their families are at the centre of the care provided.
