The Worksop base of a global railway infrastructure company is looking forward to a year of giving back after choosing Bluebell Wood as its charity of the year.

Pandrol, which specialises in the design, development and manufacture of products to make rail travel more efficient, asked colleagues which charity they’d like to support – and Bluebell Wood came out on top.

The firm got off the marks in innovative style with a fundraiser that saw a donation to Bluebell Wood each time a colleague completed its ‘Employee Engagement Survey’.

The novel approach saw £500 raised for the charity and now the team are busy coming up with new ways to help make a difference.

Della Hatfield, UK HR Manager at Pandrol, said: “Bluebell Wood is an incredibly important local charity and our team here at Pandrol are very excited to be supporting such a fantastic cause.

“We’re very much committed to giving something back to the communities we operate in through our ‘Pandrol Cares’ initiative and we’re looking forward to working with colleagues to raise as much as possible to help fund Bluebell Wood’s vital work.”

Over the coming year, Pandrol colleagues are planning to get involved in a host of events and fundraising challenges, as well as lending much needed people-power to the hospice through volunteering days.

Jason Gossop, Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re delighted that Pandrol has chosen Bluebell Wood as its charity of the year and we’re very much looking forward to working closely with the team in the weeks and months ahead.

“As charity we need to raise over £5m each year to be there for local children and families who often have nowhere else to turn, so the support of community-spirited business like Pandrol is very important.

“Thanks to firms like Pandrol we can put smiles on children’s faces and help them make memories that their families will always treasure.”
