About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are currently supporting around 300 families both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more.  It costs more than £5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government sources.

The role:

You will offer direct support, advocacy and signposting to families, during some of the most challenging times they will face.  You will work closely with families from the point of referral, through to post bereavement support, empowering them to seek appropriate intervention, access services and reach decisions based on their individual requirements.

You will achieve this by assessing needs, offering support and liaising with colleagues and other agencies appropriately.  You will support families both through home visits and during their time at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, maximising the opportunities and activities available to them.

The requirements:

You will have an excellent understanding of the issues facing families where there is a child or young person with a life-shortening condition.  You will have experience of directly supporting children and young people on a one to one basis and through facilitating group work.  This role needs someone who is able to work flexibly (evenings and weekends) and who is willing to travel across the catchment area to provide support.  You must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

In return, we can offer you a fantastic working environment and the following benefits:

    • 33 days’ annual leave with the option to buy and sell
    • Sick pay
    • Health Care Cash Back Scheme
    • Free counselling sessions
    • Enhanced maternity pay
    • Enhanced paternity pay
    • Enhanced parental bereavement leave
    • Compassionate leave
    • Salary sacrifice scheme
    • Training & Development
    • Investment in your wellbeing
    • Volunteering & shadowing days
    • Free parking on main site
    • Free drinks and subsidised meals
    • Time off in lieu
    • Uniform

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we value everyone who works with us, embrace individual differences and recognise that great things happen when we work together.
