Hospice Gardener

£18,500 pa (FTE)

20 hours per week flexible over 7 days

About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are currently supporting around 300 families both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more.  It costs more than £5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government sources.

The role:

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic gardener to take pride in the maintenance and development of our garden and grounds. The role of Hospice Gardener will see you working with a team of garden volunteers and gardening groups in the provision, maintenance and development of the hospice garden and external areas, creating an environment that is enjoyable, safe and secure for our children, families and staff.

We are seeking someone who has experience gained in horticulture or gardening services.  You will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our garden spaces, for the cultivation of produce in our allotment which is used in our hospice kitchen and ensure that all of the hospice grounds are kept presentable.

The requirements:

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener with a recognised horticultural qualification or extensive experience of gardening. You will be supervising our garden volunteers, ensuring the team has the necessary support and services to deliver its key objectives.
