Are you a children’s registered nurse committed to the delivery of children’s palliative care?

We are expanding our team and have a number of exciting opportunities for you to join us in meeting the needs of children, young people and families. A career at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is an incredibly rewarding one as you are able to make a real difference to the lives of children living with life limiting conditions. Everyone works together, supporting each other, to ensure that we seize every opportunity to create memories to treasure for every child and their family.

About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are currently supporting around 300 families both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more.  It costs more than £5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government sources.

The role:

Our Nurses are at the heart of the outstanding care we offer to children and young people with life-shortening conditions at our hospice in North Anston, as well as in family homes.  We want our nurses to spend quality time with each child and their family so that we provide truly personalised and holistic care and have lots of fun along the way.

We are expanding our care team and have vacancies for experienced Children’s Nurses or Learning Disability or Adult nurses with experience of nursing children. We invest significantly in personal development, have clear career progression routes and our purpose-built hospice offers a fantastic working environment that is genuinely filled with love and laughter.

The role will involve working shifts in-house and being part of a service that delivers care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  As a result of this the job will involve working unsocial hours including bank holidays, nights and weekends.

From 1st April 2022 all direct care provision and/or close contact roles at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice require full COVID vaccination as a Condition of Deployment. The role of In House Nurse falls into this category.

The requirements:

You will be expected to be qualified with a current NMC registration.  Ideally you will have post qualifying experience of working with children and young adults with complex health needs and experience of using end of life care pathways to deliver bespoke packages of support. You will have the ability to provide and evaluate care according to complex needs and in collaboration with all other agencies involved.

In return, we can offer you a fantastic working environment and the following benefits:

  • 33 days’ annual leave with the option to buy and sell
  • Sick pay
  • Health Care Cash Back Scheme
  • Free counselling sessions
  • Enhanced maternity pay
