About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for babies, children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care.

Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary family support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our Care Team support these families in our modern, purpose-built building. All our rooms bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.

We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use.

The role:

The Practice Development Nurse will work as part of the Education Team, with a focus on supporting the Care Team to develop and consolidate clinical skills and proficiencies relevant to their role in a children’s hospice. Working directly with the Care Team on shift, to enable the acquisition of care proficiency when caring for babies, children and young people with life limiting conditions. One shift per week to be worked as a Nurse in the care team, with the other hours working alongside staff as an educator. Part time applications can be considered.

The requirements:

To fulfil the role effectively you will be a NMC registered Nurse. You will have experience of working with children and families who have complex needs, a passion for education and supporting team members to reach their potential. You will be a resilient individual and able to work collaboratively with both the Education and Care team.
