Disney princesses, Star Wars baddies, a T-Rex and the Lord Mayor of Sheffield brought fun and laughter to Bluebell Wood’s tenth birthday celebrations.

Among those who went along to the children’s hospice’s annual Birthday Bash in North Anston were Sheffield’s Lord Mayor Magid Magid, as well as stormtrooper and Darth Vader characters from the Star Wars films, and Frozen’s Elsa and Anna.

Families, members of the public, volunteers and staff enjoyed performances from dance group Liquid and singers Katie Greaves, Ethan Massingham and Thomas Stewart. People also had the chance to tour the hospice and its beautiful gardens, and enjoy a slice of a huge birthday cake.

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Magid Magid said: “Bluebell Wood is a fantastic lifeline to so many families across this region, providing invaluable support in their hour of need. It was a real pleasure to find out first-hand about the work this charity does and be part of its’ tenth birthday celebrations."

Helen Mower, Head of Fundraising, Bluebell Wood, said: “We’d really like to thank everyone who supported our Birthday Bash. We’re delighted that so many people came along to join our tenth birthday celebrations. It’s been an amazing ten years since we first opened our doors, but none of it would have been possible without the tireless work of hundreds of our supporters and fundraisers.

“From spreading the word about Bluebell Wood or raising funds, to volunteering at the hospice or making a donation, every single bit of support has made, and continues to make, all the difference to families facing unimaginably tough times.”
