A head shave is just one activity that has helped logistics company Wincanton raise money for Bluebell Wood.

The Wincanton team, based at Wilko distribution centre in Worksop, raised £1,014 after combining a health and safety event with a fun day.

Around 240 employees took part in Wincanton’s ‘Relaunch’ event, with one colleague agreeing to have his head shaved in return for donations. A cake sale, pitch and putt, ice cream van, darts and a health and safety competition also helped raise money.

Lisa Drew, Regional HR Manager, Wincanton, said: “When we decided to fundraise, we asked our drivers to suggest charities close to their hearts and we had several nominations for Bluebell Wood.  One of our drivers stayed at Bluebell Wood with his family when they lost their son several months ago, so it was particularly poignant to choose this charity.

“The energy and participation of our Wincanton colleagues at Wilko Worksop was phenomenal.  Everyone engaged in the spirit of the day and there was a genuine sense of fun, while raising a fantastic amount of money for Bluebell Wood. Our special thanks have to go to Arron Hilton for ‘braving the shave’ and bringing in lots of donations.”

Rachael Dawes, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Bluebell Wood, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Wincanton for choosing Bluebell Wood and for their enthusiastic support. All the money raised will make a difference and help families across our region to make special memories together.”
