Supercar fans supported by Bluebell Wood received an extra special visit thanks to the team at Supercar Driver.

The hospice held an Easter family event with Supercar Driver, where families could enjoy sitting behind the wheel and having pictures with their favourite cars.

Amongst the families who attended the day was 12-year-old Jacob, who's currently receiving care from the hospice and is pictured sitting in a Lamborghini.

The surprise visit gives a taste of what’s to come, with the return of the hugely popular Supercar Experience to Meadowhall over the late May bank holiday weekend (Sunday 26th) in support of Bluebell Wood.

Speaking about the experience, Jacob’s mum Kerry said, “It’s been absolutely fantastic for Jacob to see some of his favourite cars in real life, and even have the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat.

“Experiences like this can mean so much to children like Jacob, and we are incredibly grateful for the invaluable support Bluebell Wood has provided to our whole family over the years.”

The Supercar Experience will see over 45 of the most impressive motors in the country visit Meadowhall, letting visitors get up close and personal with a whole host of incredible vehicles.

Those attending will have the chance to take a ten-mile passenger ride in a supercar, with the fleet including iconic brands such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche and many more.

For younger fans, Lightning McQueen and the Batmobile will all be attending, giving those of all ages a special experience with their favourite on-screen cars.

All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to Bluebell Wood to support the care we provide for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said, “It’s great to see the joy that sitting in the supercars brought the children and young people. We’re incredibly excited to welcome the Supercar Experience back to Meadowhall this summer and continuing to raise support for Bluebell Wood. Last year’s event proved hugely popular with our visitors, and we’ve no doubt that this year will prove to be just as exciting and enjoyable for those that attend.”

Beth Cole, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, commented, “We’re hugely looking forward to the return of the Supercar Experience back to Meadowhall. The Supercar Driver visit to the hospice has given us a glimpse of the excitement the event brings, and we can’t wait to share it with even more people from across Sheffield and beyond this May Bank Holiday.

“We also remain incredibly grateful for the generosity of those that attend the event and contribute to the vital funds it raises in helping us to continue supporting families who need us.”

Last year’s Supercars event raised over £32,000 for Bluebell Wood through ticket sales and donations.
