After his wife heard about our volunteering opportunities at our Birthday Bash a few years ago, Gary Mason decided to dedicate his time as part of our eBay team.

“I was in the army for forty years, and we regularly held golf days for Bluebell Wood. When I retired I thought ‘what am I going to do in my spare time?’ My wife’s colleague had been to the Bluebell Wood Birthday Bash, and she encouraged me to call up. I did, and the rest is history! It seemed natural to give something back to the hospice.”

As an eBay volunteer, Gary packs up our sold items and sends them out to customers all over the globe. In the past year alone he has helped package over £36,000 worth of vintage treasures and collectables, which included everything from plates and books to sewing machines and bikes.

Gary is also a keen gardener and golfer, and enjoys helping us organise our annual Golf Day.

He said, “I have been very lucky in my life – I’m glad I can now give something back, and help Bluebell Wood raise the money they need to keep going.”
