We've brought together a range of trusted organisations, services and support options that may be helpful for children, young people, parents, carers and family members. You'll find national mental health support services, as well as local information tailored to where you live, listed below.

General Mental Health Support

If you or a family member need mental health or emotional wellbeing support, the organisations below offer a range of services including counselling, crisis support, suicide prevention, peer support and self-help resources.

National Mental Health Support Services

Kooth

Free online emotional wellbeing and mental health support for young people aged 10 to 25. Kooth offers online counselling, moderated peer support forums, self-help tools and a confidential messaging service. Support is available through self-referral.

CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

CALM provides support for anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts, anyone worried about somebody else, or those bereaved by suicide. The service includes a helpline, webchat and WhatsApp support, with a particular focus on preventing male suicide. Support is available daily from 5pm to midnight.

PAPYRUS

PAPYRUS offers confidential support and advice for anyone under 35 experiencing thoughts of suicide, as well as those concerned about a young person. The organisation also provides practical tools and resources, including safety planning support.

Shout

Shout is a free, confidential text messaging service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It provides support for anyone struggling to cope and needing immediate emotional support. Messages are confidential and do not appear on phone bills.

Samaritans

Samaritans provides a free, confidential listening service for anyone experiencing emotional distress or needing someone to talk to. Support is available across the UK.

Hub of Hope

Hub of Hope is a searchable directory that helps people find local and national mental health support services, including NHS, charity, community and peer support organisations.

Light Peer Support

Light Peer Support offers volunteer-led peer support for parents during pregnancy and after birth, helping individuals connect with others who may have had similar experiences.
