A Doncaster ice cream supplier has raised over £2,100 for Bluebell Wood.

Ice Cream Direct, the UK’s leading ice-cream wholesaler, sponsored a day at Doncaster races and held a prize draw at its annual dinner, helping to bring in the impressive total.

Lorraine Jackson from Ice Cream Direct said: “We wanted to fundraise for Bluebell Wood because they do amazing things for children and families going through extremely tough times. We’re pleased to have raised so much and hope it helps make a difference.

“Everyone got involved, including my daughter Lara who saved her spending money to buy a Build-A-Bear for one of the children supported by Bluebell Wood.”

After names were pulled out of a hat at Bluebell Wood, nine-year-old Lilly-Mai Davies (pictured here) won the bear. Lilly-Mai, who lives in Wheatley, Doncaster, has visited the children’s hospice for day care since she was diagnosed with liver and heart conditions at just six months old.

Lilly-Mai’s mum Gemma said: “I would just like to say thank you to Lara for donating her build a bear teddy. How fantastic it was that Lilly-Mai won it. She's over the moon with it and now has it in her room, on her bed.”

David Hall, Corporate Fundraiser, Bluebell Wood, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Ice Cream Direct, and of course to Lara, for their fantastic support. Every penny will help Bluebell Wood support children and young adults whose lives are sadly just too short, so they can make special memories with their families, whether they have days, months or years left together.”
