An enthusiastic group of eight friends from Maltby, Rotherham are getting ready to walk coast to coast and raise vital funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Conner Wesley and his team - Rob Pryke, Craig Edwards, Matt Whitehead, Corey Mangham, Chris Daley, Danny Bearman, and Caleb Wedge will be taking on the coast to coast walk from 3 August and have already raised almost half of their £10,000 target for the hospice. The challenge will see them walking the 192-mile coast to coast walk in just nine and a half days (just over 20 miles of walking per day) as well as wild camping each night.

Conner said: “We were keen to do the challenge for a good cause and couldn’t think of a better charity then Bluebell Wood. Everyone we spoke to said the same thing because of the fantastic support they give to local children”

The walk will take them from the Irish Sea, through the Lake District onto the Yorkshire Dales, across the North Yorkshire Moors, finishing at Robin Hoods Bay and the North Sea.

"We’ve all been training really hard for it and getting lots of people involved in our fundraising. I’m up at 4am training for the walk every morning and am really looking forward to the big day. We have a big family fun day planned for when we have finished, so we are committed to finishing in time”.

Eleanor Hughes, Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “It’s great to see how enthusiastic the lads are in taking on such a big challenge and they have already done an amazing job with their training and fundraising. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Conner and the team for choosing to support Bluebell Wood.

“Every penny they raise will help us to be there for local children and their families at the toughest of times.

"Best of luck – we can’t wait to see how you all get on."
