A Doncaster firm’s longstanding support for Bluebell Wood has reached new heights this year, with its latest donation taking the grand total of funds they have raised to over £50,000.

Railway infrastructure contractor, VolkerRail, has been supporting Bluebell Wood since 2012, lending much-needed people power, as well as raising tens of thousands of pounds.

Teams at the Doncaster-based firm have taken on all manner of fundraising challenges for the hospice, including the charity’s popular Dragon Boat Race, Colour Dash event and much more.

Colleagues even rolled their sleeves up in 2019 to help install a water feature and the accompanying  pipework in the hospice’s tranquil Dragonfly Garden, where families go to remember loved ones. This was just one of several large-scale volunteering projects VolkerRail has taken on at the hospice.

Stuart Webster-Spriggs, VolkerRail’s HSQES director, said: “It has been a privilege to support Bluebell Wood, and we’re incredibly proud of our teams for all they have given to such a worthy cause.

“Many of us have visited the hospice and seen the incredible support they offer families in their time of need, so we’re always looking for ways we can give something back.

“We look forward to working closely with Bluebell Wood again, and lending our support however we can.”

Sally Baker, Regional Fundraiser for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “VolkerRail is an outstanding partner for Bluebell Wood, and we can’t thank the team enough for all their hard work and generosity over the years.

“The astonishing sum raised for the hospice will make a real difference to the families we support at a time when so much of our planned fundraising activity has been cancelled or postponed."

“A huge thank you to everyone at VolkerRail for all their support – it will be our pleasure to welcome you back to the hospice when the time is right.”
