An intrepid team from Sheffield-based Mallard Mortgages are once again taking on the dizzy heights of Yorkshire’s toughest peaks.

The epic challenge will see the adventurous colleagues take on the might of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – a gruelling 24-mile trek taking in the stunning vistas of Pennine range.

For husband-and-wife team Troy and Della Mallard, it’s second time’s a charm.

“We enjoyed it so much last time that we decided to do it again this year,” said Troy, who runs the family firm with his wife, Della.

“Last year we did it in bang on 12 hours so we’re hoping to beat our time this year.”

While the team loved the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, there were moments when they’d rather have been at home with their  feet up.

“Physically it was quite tough and we had every type of weather you can imagine. But gradually the adrenaline kicks in.

“It was great to see Jason and Beth from Bluebell Wood at various stops along the way, cheering us on and keeping us going with food and drink- which was very welcome.

“At the end it’s a great sense of satisfaction – you do feel very proud of yourself. I’d say the highlight was sitting down for a well-deserved drink at the pub on the finish line.

“The hardest thing was standing back up again after sitting down with the aching limbs!”

The team raised an incredible £2,000 last year, and with generous supporters already donating over £1,200 this time round, they’re very much on track to hit their £1,500 target.

This year Troy and Della will be joined by Tim Barnett.

Bluebell Wood’s Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes place on 18 June and you can book your place here. Whether you want to gather friends, family or colleagues, it’s an unforgettable team-building day out.

Beth Cole, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re delighted the Mallard Mortgages team are taking on our Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge once again.

“The fact that they are coming back for more is testament to how much of a memorable and fun challenge it is.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team for their dedication and support – rest assured we’ll be on hand with plenty of snacks and motivation again this year to keep you going.”
