Hallamshire Golf Club head pro, Joe Froggatt, is in training for the London Marathon in support of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The Sheffield father of two will be taking part in one of the most popular marathons in the world on 21st April to raise money for the children’s hospice.

The route will see him running alongside thousands of participants and taking in some of London’s best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.

This won’t be Joe’s first time supporting the much-loved charity. In 2022 he ran the Sheffield half marathon for Bluebell Wood and held a golf tournament which raised almost £9,000 for the hospice.

“I have a privileged position of being the head professional at Hallamshire Golf Club where we have an incredibly supportive membership who have always been very generous when I’ve done fundraising in the past,” said Joe.

“Running the London Marathon is something I’ve always wanted to do. Training is going well, and I’d like to complete it in under four hours, but the main aim is just to raise as much money as I can. Anything I can do to make a difference to the families supported by Bluebell Wood is what I’ll really be proud of.”

Joe has already raised over £1,000 and is eager to reach his £3,000 target. You can visit Joe's fundraising page to donate.

Beth Cole, Events Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Joe for taking on the iconic London Marathon for Bluebell Wood and also to everyone supporting his brilliant fundraising.

“We all wish him the best of luck with training and everyone at Bluebell Wood will be tuning in and cheering for Joe on the day!”
