At Bluebell Wood, we refer to the time families spend in the hospice as ‘short breaks’. At the moment, as we work towards opening more beds, our short breaks are two nights long.

What can I do at Bluebell Wood?

While you’re here you’ll be treated to our delicious home-cooked meals, meaning you can spend more time together as a family, creating special memories. Whether you want to take a stroll around our gardens, curl up with a movie in our cinema room, or organise a trip out, our Care Team can help you make the most of your time with us.

We love nothing more than seeing lots of families enjoying themselves together. That’s why our garden became a real life Jurassic Park for Dino Day. Then there was the time when we all fell down the rabbit hole and enjoyed the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The support available to you doesn’t stop at the hospice doors though. We are committed to helping your family when and where you need it, including coming out to see you at home.

What's Bluebell Wood like?

During your stay you’ll probably notice that our hospice doesn’t look like a typical healthcare setting. You and your child will both have your own bedroom and bathroom, which you can fill with your child’s favourite toys, posters and bedding. Each room also has a private terrace, so you can sit outside for breakfast as a family or enjoy watching the sunset with a drink.

However you decide to spend your short break with us, we want our hospice to be your home from home. Our Care Team are on hand 24 hours a day, so you can unwind and recharge your batteries, knowing your child is being looked after.

Whilst you're staying with us, you might like to try a couple of our other services too.
